DHL Supply Chain enhances regional operations with new leadership in Asia Pacific

July 4, 2024 by PLA Editor

(L-R) Edwin, CEO of DHL Supply Chain South-East Asia; Fanny, VP, Head of ESG APAC, and Head of Taiwan & China; Michael Lai, Head of Service Logistics, Asia Pacific.

DHL Supply Chain, the global leader in contract logistics, has announced three new key leadership appointments in Asia Pacific. These new appointments follow the appointment of Andries Retief, as Chief Commercial Officer, DHL Supply Chain Europe, Middle East, and Africa, effective September 1, 2024.

“Recognizing and leveraging our internal talent underscores the strength of our workforce and our dedication to fostering a culture of growth and opportunity. I am looking forward to continued contributions from these exceptional leaders in their new roles. Each of them brings their distinct expertise and proven track records in enhancing customer service and innovation to the table. Their deep knowledge of our operations and commitment to our mission will be invaluable as we help our customers grow and build their supply chain resiliency in this region,” said Javier Bilbao, CEO, DHL Supply Chain Asia Pacific.

Edwin Wong takes on a new role as CEO of DHL Supply Chain South-East Asia

Wong, a DHL veteran with 20 years of experience with the group, joined Exel (later DHL Supply Chain) as a Strategy Manager in 2004. He has since held various roles across Strategy, M&A, Operations & Projects, and Key Account Management before being appointed Head of Service Logistics, DHL Supply Chain Asia Pacific in 2014. As VP of DHL Supply Chain Taiwan, he led the business to become a market leader in the semiconductor industry. In 2019, he successfully transitioned DHL Supply Chain China and Hong Kong to SF Supply Chain and oversaw their strategic partnership. In his new role, he will report directly to Javier Bilbao.

Fanny Huang will assume the additional position of Head of Taiwan & China Representative Office effective July 1, 2024.

Huang joined DHL Supply Chain in 2018 as Director of Strategic Deal Management, successfully setting up the transport-focused joint venture, DHL Summit Solutions Inc, in the Philippines. In 2021, she took on her current role, advancing the ESG agenda and developing the APAC decarbonization roadmap. She also led the regional CEO office and championed DEIB initiatives. As VP, Head of ESG APAC, and Head of Taiwan & China, Huang will build on Taiwan’s recent progress and strengthen DHL Supply Chain’s relationship with SF Supply Chain in China. She retains her roles as APAC CEO, Chief of Staff, and APAC DEIB sponsor, reporting directly to Javier Bilbao.

Michael Lai will take over Edwin Wong as Head of Service Logistics, Asia Pacific

Lai joined DHL Group in 2003 and has held several management roles in Asia Pacific. Appointed Managing Director of Taiwan in 2013, he accelerated the Service Logistics portfolio. In 2016, he became Head of Service Logistics in Greater China, and in 2019, he served as COO and Head of Solutions and Innovations at SF DHL Supply Chain in China.

As COO of DHL Supply Chain Asia Pacific, Lai expanded the Operations Management System and championed green initiatives. In his new role as Head of Service Logistics, he will enhance customer service, optimize operations, and implement sustainable practices. Lai will report to John Farrell and Javier Bilbao.

All three will continue to be based in Singapore.
