J&T Express releases 2024 ESG report: Driving sustainable practices across its logistics network

March 31, 2025 by PLA Editor

J&T Global Express Limited, a global logistics service provider, released its 2024 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report. The Report showcases the Company’s commitment to sustainable development through its practices and achievements in areas including green initiatives, social co-prosperity, strengthened corporate governance, and technological innovation.

Commitment to green logistics for a sustainable future
As a multinational logistics leader, J&T Express consistently optimizes its green management practices across its entire logistics chain. In 2024, this commitment yielded significant progress in green planning, transportation, and packaging. Notably, the Company designed and constructed its first self-built smart supply chain industrial park in Baoying, Jiangsu, China, featuring 74,000 square meters of rooftop photovoltaic panels. By the end of December 2024, the total photovoltaic power generation reached 1,089,760 kWh, projected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 7,880 tons annually, enabling the sustainable utilization of energy and setting a new standard for green logistics development.

Regarding green transportation, J&T Express has embraced a “four-in-one” model, integrating route fuel consumption management, driver energy-saving training, and optimized transportation and energy structures to create a comprehensive green transportation network. In Vietnam, the Company established a “reduce fuel consumption by 1 liter per 100 kilometers” target for all vehicle models. In China, the Company comprehensively invested 4,401 aluminum-made trailers for its self-operated trunk vehicles. Each aluminum trailer is 1.5 tons lighter than the traditional iron trailer, which is more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. Furthermore, in 2024, J&T Express cumulatively invested in 1,327 LNG clean energy vehicles in China, bringing the proportion of LNG vehicles in China to 26% and effectively reducing the greenhouse gas emission intensity of parcels transported by self-owned vehicles by nearly 4%.

In terms of green packaging, J&T Express actively implements green logistics measures across receiving, transit, delivery, and recycling. This includes the continued promotion and use of reusable transit bags, fully degradable waterproof bags, 45mm degradable tape, and one-sheet e-waybills. Building on its experience in the use and management of reusable transit bags in the Chinese market, the Company has gradually expanded this measure to all business markets globally. In 2024, the Company began to gradually promote the use of reusable transit bags in Southeast Asia and New Markets, with a total of 799,000 new bags deployed throughout the year, representing a year-on-year increase of 80.7%, and a cumulative usage of over 27.62 million times.

Enhancing employee safety and actively promoting social welfare
To ensure its stable development, J&T Express continuously strengthens its employee safety production management system, prioritizing employee safety and strictly implementing various safety measures to create a safe and reliable working environment. In 2024, the Company increased its investment in safety training, completing a total of 57,464 safety training sessions throughout the year, with 1,089,974 participants.

J&T Express also actively participates in local social welfare undertakings in many countries, giving back to local communities and fulfilling the Company’s social responsibilities. In Vietnam, the Company assisted farmers in harvesting crops, packing express deliveries, and guiding them on how to use e-commerce platforms to promote and sell their products. In Brazil, the Company used its efficient logistics network to provide 300 tons of relief materials to flood-stricken areas. In Indonesia, the Company supported micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) by launching the “J&T Connect Preneur” series of activities and providing a total of 300 million Indonesian Rupiah in business funding to the 10 best enterprises that submitted commercial competition applications. In the Philippines and Thailand, the Company supported the development of education by providing physical educational resources to local schools and launching outstanding student scholarship programs.

Strengthening corporate governance and building a solid information security defense line
J&T Express is committed to building a clean, fair, and transparent business environment, and continuously improving its anti-corruption and anti-bribery system. In 2024, the Group completed 94,146 global anti-corruption training sessions, with 31,355 training hours.

In the field of information security, the Company builds a three-dimensional education system, systematically promotes employees’ safety awareness enhancement and data security protection training, and strengthens the publicity effect through poster promotion and case interpretation. In 2024, based on obtaining ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and National Information Security Level Protection Level 3 certifications in China, the Company successfully passed ISO 27001 certification in Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia, building a solid global information security defense line.

In November 2024, J&T Express’ global daily parcel volume exceeded 100 million, setting a new industry record. In the same year, the Company began to use drones and unmanned vehicles, actively deploying diversified intelligent logistics solutions, so as to empower the high-quality development of the industry. The Company continues to enhance its influence in the global market through technological innovation and a firm commitment to social responsibility.

Charles Hou, Group Vice President of J&T Express, stated: “A commitment to both efficiency and sustainability is essential for building a healthy and long-lasting business. J&T prioritizes the practical implementation of sustainable development measures throughout our operations. In 2024, we not only achieved breakthroughs in green logistics management, but also continued to promote social welfare and improve the Company’s governance framework. These tangible initiatives align with our long-term vision and deliver positive, effective results in our operational processes. Looking ahead, we will continuously build intelligent infrastructure, establish a digital logistics network, champion environmentally conscious operations across our entire logistics chain, and contribute to global sustainable development.”
