EFW and Confity Capital Partners sign multi-aircraft A330P2F conversion agreement

April 28, 2025 by PLA Editor

(L–R, front row) Jordi Boto, CEO, EFW; Sia N. Ashok, Managing Partner, Confity and Lee London, SVP Sales & Marketing, EFW, signing the multi-aircraft A330P2F conversion agreement while witnessed by (L–R, back row) Jeffrey Lam, President Commercial Aerospace, ST Engineering; Amit Baum, Senior Partner & Programme Director, Confity and Richard Theknath, Chairman & Managing Director, Jet Freight Logistics.

Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW), centre of excellence for Airbus freighter conversions, announced it has signed an agreement with Confity Capital Partners (Confity), a UAE-based growth equity and investment firm, on a multi-aircraft order for its Airbus A330 Passenger-to-Freighter (P2F) programme. This order is part of a new partnership between Confity and EFW to bring the latter’s widebody Airbus P2F solution to operators in India in support of the sub-continent’s fast-growing freight market, as well as to global customers in other emerging markets. The strategic push into India follows EFW’s successful introduction of its standard body A321P2F and A320P2F freighter aircraft to the market in 2022.

The A330P2F conversions for Confity will be performed starting end-2025 at EFW’s facility in Dresden, Germany and at its partner conversion sites across the globe. Jet Freight Logistics, a listed Mumbai-based cargo service provider with extensive experience spanning over four decades, will be the launch customer and the first Indian cargo airline to operate the widebody Airbus P2F platform.

“We are excited to enter into this strategic partnership with Confity to jointly provide new-generation Airbus converted widebody freighters to the Indian air cargo market,” said Lee London, SVP Marketing & Sales, EFW. “Driven by e-commerce, domestic consumption, rising exports and infrastructure improvements, India’s air cargo market is expected to grow rapidly and hit record volumes in the years to come. Our Airbus P2F programmes can serve as a strong enabler in this trajectory, helping Indian operators and the cargo market maintain their upward momentum with proven aircraft freighter solutions.”

“We are delighted to join forces with EFW on this multi-aircraft A330 P2F conversion programme,” said Sia Ashok, Managing Partner at Confity. “This collaboration is a strategic step forward in our mission to build future-ready cargo infrastructure, driven by demand for efficient widebody freighter capacity across emerging and established markets. The A330 platform aligns perfectly with our investment thesis, combining operational versatility with long-term asset value. We look forward to delivering impactful outcomes for our partners, stakeholders and the global aviation ecosystem.”

“For us at Confity Capital Partners, after identifying the need and the possible partners, it was imperative to partner with the leading technical experts of this field,” said Amit Baum, Senior Partner at Confity. “From a broader view, having EFW experts partner with us on this project is a major technical risk reduction as they have proven their capabilities. We can also say we are already looking beyond this project and have additional plans for cooperation in the near future.”

The A330P2F programme comes in two variants – the A330-200P2F and the A330-300P2F – both of which are equipped with advanced technology that offer airlines impressive operational and economic benefits. The A330-200P2F can carry a gross payload of up to 60 tonnes for over 7,700 km, while the A330-300P2F offers a gross payload of up to 62 tonnes and a containerised volume of up to ~18,581ft3 (~526m3), bringing a new paradigm of efficiency with up to 23 percent more cargo volume than other freighter aircraft in the same class.
