LATAM group achieves another successful Mother’s Day Season, surpassing 25,000 tons of flowers transported

May 9, 2025 by PLA Editor

LATAM group’s cargo affiliates successfully concluded the high season for flower shipments for Mother’s Day, reaffirming its commitment to the region’s floriculture industry and the connection of these products with major international markets.

During the season, which lasted 21 days, the group moved over 25,000 tons of flowers from Colombia and Ecuador, once again demonstrating its leadership in transporting this perishable product. This volume represents a 4% growth compared to the same holiday last year.

Of the total transported, around 12,000 tons originated in Ecuador, while more than 13,000 tons were moved from Colombia. These results were made possible thanks to the robust capacity of LATAM group’s cargo fleet and the operational flexibility to respond to the high seasonal demand.

“The strong results achieved this Mother’s Day season are clear testimony to the trust our customers place in LATAM,” said Claudio Torres Faini, Commercial VP for South America at LATAM Cargo Group. “Our commitment to the floriculture industry and to each of our customers goes beyond the high-demand seasons; we are present throughout the year, ensuring the capacity and excellent service they require for their operations. We thank them for their trust and will continue driving the development of this key sector for Colombia and Ecuador.”

Actively responding to the high seasonal demand and the specific needs of its customers, LATAM significantly increased its offering of cargo flights, raising frequencies from Colombia and Ecuador by 48% for this celebration. The Mother’s Day operation resulted in a logistical deployment of over 430 departures in just three weeks, of which 231 flights departed from Bogotá and Medellin, and more than 200 originated from Quito, connecting flowers to key markets such as the United States and Europe.

LATAM group has the largest cargo fleet in the region. This capacity, combined with operational flexibility and extensive experience in the transportation of perishables, allows the group’s cargo subsidiaries to adapt to market needs, ensuring not only efficiency in every operation but also the care of flowers at every stage of their journey.
