Mobull invests in the future: New art warehouse in Brussels and strategic expansion to Antwerp

May 19, 2025 by PLA Editor

The Belgian art logistics company Mobull, part of the internationally active Hasenkamp Group, is pushing ahead with its growth strategy. The group of companies is currently building a new, state-of-the-art art warehouse on the existing site in Brussels and has also expanded its radius of action to the port city of Antwerp through a company takeover.

New art warehouse in Brussels: 4,000 square meters for the highest demands
The new warehouse building, which is scheduled for completion in February 2026, comprises five floors, each with 800 square meters of space. Mobull is thus creating an additional 4,000 square meters of climate-controlled storage space to meet the growing demand for professional and secure art storage. Once completed, the building will provide space for art logistics-related services. A showroom and a restoration studio will also be set up.

“With this range, we are responding in a functional and visionary way to the requirements of our Belgian customers,” says Marc Maertens, Managing Director of Mobull.

Sustainable, safe and symbolic
Particular emphasis was placed on sustainability and energy efficiency during the planning phase: The building is heated with geothermal energy, has solar panels on the roof and is equipped with an innovative gas extinguishing system that displaces oxygen in the event of a fire without causing damage from extinguishing water.

A special highlight is the façade design: a large-format, black and white portrait of the surrealist artist René Magritte will greet visitors and customers in future – a homage to Belgian art and a striking visual statement.

Expansion to Antwerp: Mobull takes over art logistics company “Scheck”
On April 1, 2025, Mobull took over the Antwerp-based art logistics company Scheck. The team remains the same and the company now operates under the name Mobull Antwerp. The aim is to strengthen its presence on the growing Antwerp art market, which is characterized by numerous museums, galleries and private collections.

“Although Brussels and Antwerp are only an hour apart, our service in Antwerp was often not competitive in terms of price. With the new location, we are closer to our customers – both geographically and economically,” explains Marc Maertens.

Strengthening Belgium as a location and international perspective
With these investments, the Hasenkamp Group has shown itself to be a fast-growing and regionally rooted player in European art logistics. Modern infrastructure, market-oriented services and a direct line to the customer make it a reliable partner for museums, galleries and collectors – in Europe and worldwide.
