Scan Global Logistics (SGL), a leading provider of global logistics services, is proud to announce the opening of its new operations in Egypt. This expansion aligns with SGL’s ambitious global growth strategy and increases its foothold in one of the region’s most strategic markets.

The opening in Egypt is part of SGL’s strategic focus to enhance its foothold in the MENAT region (Middle East, North Africa, Türkiye), of which SGL is already present in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Türkiye. The global logistics provider is opening its new head office in Cairo at the City Stars Complex, with additional office openings planned within the next 6-12 months.

Allan Melgaard, Global CEO of SGL, expands: ‘We are excited to strengthen our presence and foothold in the MENAT region by expanding into Egypt. With a clear vision for growth in the Middle East, North Africa, and Türkiye, we are well-positioned to lead the logistics sector in the region, offering unparalleled services and innovative solutions to serve our customers.’

The logistics and warehousing market in Egypt was valued at EGP 110 billion in 2023, with projections indicating strong growth through 2029. Egypt’s consistent economic growth is supported by government-led initiatives that focus on infrastructure improvements, regulatory reforms, and trade facilitation, all aimed at establishing the country as an international logistics and trade hub. This makes Egypt an ideal location for SGL’s regional expansion.

Egypt, a strategic logistics gateway
Egypt’s strategic location at the crossroads of Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, and its control over the Suez Canal, position the country as a critical logistics gateway between East and West and intra-continental trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement.

General Manager Ahmed Habib, who brings over 20 years of experience in the logistics industry, including roles at Damco, Maersk, and FedEx, will lead this expansion. He will be assisted by an expert team of seasoned professionals with years of experience. With deep industry expertise and knowledge of the local market, they provide essential in-house customs clearance for optimised cross-border and regional logistics services, including comprehensive ocean, air, and road freight services, project cargo management, and efficient warehousing and supply chain management.

‘Establishing direct operations in Egypt allows us to maintain full control over local operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality service. Our team is committed to providing world-class solutions to local and global customers, leveraging our extensive network to streamline supply chains and accelerate business growth in Egypt and beyond,’ says Ahmed Habib, General Manager of SGL Egypt.
