Frankfurt Airport (FRA) welcomed around 6.0 million passengers in October 2025, an increase of 5.9 percent year-on-year. Fall vacation travel notably boosted passenger numbers in the reporting month. FRA even experienced its second busiest day of the year on October 5, when around 221,000 passengers travelled through Germany’s biggest aviation hub. Given the vacation period, leisure destinations in Europe remained popular in October, with particularly high demand seen for Italy (up 16.5 percent year-on-year), Greece (up 11.8 percent), Norway (up 11.3 percent), and Austria (up 11.2 percent). In the intercontinental traffic segment, destinations in South Korea (up 23.9 percent), the Middle East (up 22.8 percent), and Thailand (up 20.3 percent) were especially popular.
Cargo volumes in Frankfurt (made up of airmail and airfreight) remained virtually unchanged from the previous year, with 179,543 metric tons handled in October 2025 – a slight decline of 0.1 percent. Meanwhile, aircraft movements increased by 6.6 percent to 42,478 takeoffs and landings. Accumulated maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) rose by 3.7 percent to approximately 2.6 million metric tons.
Most airports in Fraport’s global network also recorded passenger growth in October 2025. Slovenia’s Ljubljana Airport (LJU) saw passenger traffic soar by 18.1 percent year-on-year to 150,688 travellers. In Brazil, the combined total at the airports of Fortaleza (FOR) and Porto Alegre (POA) reached 1.2 million passengers – up 70.3 percent compared to October 2024. The strong increase reflects a one-off effect from POA’s closure for several months last year due to severe flooding in the region. At Peru’s Lima Airport (LIM), passenger numbers dipped by 2.4 percent to about 2.2 million in the reporting month. Total traffic at Fraport’s 14 Greek airports advanced by 3.7 percent to 3.5 million passengers. Meanwhile, the Fraport Twin Star airports serving the Bulgarian coastal resorts of Burgas (BOJ) and Varna (VAR) welcomed a total of 182,164 passengers – an increase of 16.4 percent year-on-year. And Antalya Airport (AYT) on the Turkish Riviera recorded traffic growth of 9.3 percent, with around 5.0 million passengers in October.
The total number of passengers across all airports actively managed by Fraport rose by 8.3 percent year-on-year to approximately 18.3 million in October 2025.
