

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) handled 5.37 million passengers and 34,465 flight movements in October, representing year-on-year increases of 18% and 9.1% respectively. Traffic to and from Southeast Asia, the Chinese Mainland and Taiwan recorded the most significant growth in the month. Robust growth was seen in transfer and transit passengers, recording a 50.2% year-on-year increase to 1.50 million passengers.
Cargo throughput grew 2.9% year-on-year to 455,000 tonnes during the month. Export traffic remained the main driver of the growth, rising 1.4% year-on-year to 287,000 tonnes. Amongst key trading regions, cargo traffic to and from Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia increased most significantly during the month.
Over the first ten months of 2025, HKIA handled over 50 million passengers, while flight movements amounted to 325,330, representing 15.1% and 8.9% growth respectively, compared to the same period in 2024. Cargo volume rose by 2.3% year-on-year to over 4.12 million tonnes.
On a 12-month rolling basis, passenger volume increased by 15.5% year-on-year to 59.6 million, while flight movements rose by 9.4% to 389,955. Cargo throughput recorded a 3.3% year-on-year increase to 5.03 million tonnes.
