FedEx deepens Asia Pacific trade connectivity through strategic partnership in Vietnam

April 27, 2026 by PLA Editor

L-R – Senior leadership from Viettel Group, Viettel Post, and FedEx with distinguished guests at the partnership announcement ceremony.

Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, announced a strategic collaboration with Viettel Post Joint Stock Corporation (Viettel Post) to strengthen end-to-end logistics connectivity in Vietnam, supporting the continued expansion of the FedEx network across the Asia Pacific.

The agreement covers nationwide pickup and delivery operations in Vietnam and enhances cross-border logistics connectivity, reinforcing Vietnam’s role within regional and global supply chains.

Effective April 26, 2026, Viettel Post will serve as the National Network Provider (NNP) for FedEx in Vietnam, supporting an enhanced operating model designed to improve network efficiency, operational flexibility, and service quality. The collaboration reflects continued investment by FedEx in high-growth Southeast Asian markets and enhances network flexibility across dynamic regional trade corridors.

Under the collaboration, FedEx will leverage Viettel Post’s extensive nationwide coverage, robust fleet, and established local infrastructure to better serve customers in Vietnam’s fast-growing trade and e-commerce market. Viettel Post will undertake key operational roles, including end-to-end pickup and delivery, warehouse operations, and customs clearance coordination to enable more efficient, synchronised, and reliable cross-border logistics flows.

Customers will benefit from greater flexibility, optimised transit times, and expanded service coverage. By shortening delivery times and extending pickup cut-off times, Vietnamese businesses are better positioned to access international markets, particularly as cross-border trade continues to grow rapidly.

Vietnam’s total import–export turnover exceeded USD 930 billion in 2025, underscoring the country’s growing role as a critical trade and logistics hub within the Asia Pacific. Strengthening direct connectivity between domestic infrastructure and international networks is therefore essential to enabling export growth and facilitating cross-border trade flows.

“Vietnam continues to be a strategically important market in the company’s regional growth strategy,” said Mr. Masamichi Ujiie, President of FedEx North & South Pacific. “By partnering with a trusted national logistics leader like Viettel Post, we are reinforcing our long-term commitment to the country, while enhancing our ability to deliver faster, more flexible, and globally connected services for our customers.”

The adoption by Viettel Post of FedEx international operational standards in shipment management, tracking, and transparency is also expected to improve service quality and drive continuous improvement across Vietnam’s logistics industry.

Viettel Post, a core subsidiary of Viettel Group—one of Vietnam’s largest state-owned enterprises—brings strong brand equity, deep operational expertise, and a nationwide network spanning all 34 provinces and cities. With an extensive system of post offices, warehouses, and transportation assets, Viettel Post serves as a critical domestic logistics backbone that connects directly with the FedEx global network across more than 220 countries and territories. Together, this collaboration strengthens international logistics connectivity, enhances service excellence, and supports Vietnamese businesses in accessing global markets more effectively.

The collaboration builds on the company’s transition to a direct-serve operating model in Vietnam in June 2025, underscoring the company’s continued investment in local infrastructure, talent development, and collaboration with national champions. As part of Vietnam Import and Export Activities in 2025 Reach a Historic Record of Over USD 930 Billion, its broader Asia Pacific growth strategy, FedEx remains committed to supporting Vietnam’s economic ambitions and strengthening the region’s trade connectivity, enabling businesses across the Asia Pacific to move faster, reach further, and compete more effectively in global markets.
