October 6, 2026 by PLA Editor

Ms. Anne Magat - Chief Operating Officer, Cargohaus; Ms. Mariz Regis - CEO & President, Airspeed International Corporation; Mr. Carl Hochman – Chairman, Mensch FilAm Corporation; Ms. Racquel S. Simon – CEO & President, Mensch FilAm Corporation; Hon. Ma. Cristina A. Roque - Secretary, Department of Trade and Industry; and Hon. Atty. Genevieve Velicaria-Guevarra, CESE – Asst. Secretary for Legislative Affairs, DLLO, Agribusiness, Marketing and Consumer Affairs, Department of Agriculture.

Cargo Air Resources Group of the Philippines, Inc. (a member of TAM Group), the General Sales Agent (GSA) for Air Canada Cargo in the Philippines, has successfully supported the commercial shipment of one metric ton of fresh Philippine Carabao mangoes from Manila to Vancouver, Canada.

The shipment, comprising 250 cartons of premium Carabao mangoes, departed Manila aboard Air Canada flight AC018 on September 19, following a ceremonial send-off at Cargohaus in Parañaque City on September 18. The mangoes arrived in Vancouver on September 20, and cleared customs without issues, with the Canadian buyer expressing satisfaction with the product and positive interest in a repeat order.

The shipment was organised by Mensch FilAm Corporation in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Export Marketing Bureau and the Department of Agriculture (DA), with logistics support from Airspeed International Corporation. Vancouver-based Fresh Makers Ltd. received the shipment and is distributing the mangoes to supermarkets and institutional buyers across the Canadian market.

Enabling Philippine produce to reach global markets
As Air Canada Cargo’s GSA in the Philippines, TAM Group coordinated closely with the airline and all shipment stakeholders to ensure the smooth movement of the time-sensitive perishable cargo from origin to destination.

“The successful delivery of these mangoes to Vancouver reflects what reliable air connectivity and precise cargo coordination can achieve for Philippine exporters,” said Alvin Tam, Senior Vice President, Commercial, TAM Group. “Fresh produce is highly time-sensitive, and every stage of the journey, from booking and documentation to uplift and arrival, has to work seamlessly. We are proud to have played a role in enabling Philippine growers and exporters to access new markets.”

TAM Group brings extensive expertise in the transportation of perishable cargo, supporting some of the world’s most time-sensitive supply chains across Asia, the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East. Through its network of airline partnerships, cargo specialists and local market teams, TAM Group manages the movement of fresh produce, seafood, flowers, pharmaceuticals and other temperature-sensitive commodities that require precise handling and rapid transit. TAM Group has successfully supported exporters of premium fruits including cherries from Chile and durian from Malaysia, ensuring products reach international markets in optimal condition. By combining market intelligence, capacity management and specialised cargo solutions, TAM Group helps producers and exporters maintain product quality, reduce transit risks and maximize the value of their perishable shipments.

A collaborative effort
The initiative brought together a broad range of stakeholders across the public and private sectors, including:

  • Mensch FilAm Corporation – Philippine exporter and shipper of the mangoes
  • Department of Trade and Industry (Export Marketing Bureau) – Market development and export promotion support
  • Department of Agriculture – Support for Philippine mango industry development and export readiness
  • Air Canada – Air transportation from Manila to Vancouver
  • Cargo Air Resources Group of the Philippines, Inc. (A member of TAM Group) – GSA for Air Canada Cargo, coordinating with all shipment stakeholders
  • Airspeed International Corporation – Local logistics support in the Philippines
  • Fresh Makers Ltd. – Canadian receiver and distributor

The Philippine Carabao mango is one of the country’s best-known agricultural exports, recognised internationally for its distinctive sweetness, aroma, and texture. Expanding export destinations provides opportunities to diversify markets and develop additional demand for locally produced mangoes, supporting the livelihoods of Filipino growers and exporters.

TAM Group remains committed to supporting Air Canada Cargo’s operations in the Philippines and to enabling Philippine businesses to reach global markets through reliable air freight solutions.
