FedEx Express has launched ‘one-stop’ cold chain solutions in mainland China. Outbound FedEx International Priority Service and domestic Priority Delivery Service in China now offer two packaging solutions – Gel-pack Temperature-Controlled Package and FedEx Cold Shipping Package.
With three temperature ranges of -20-0° Celsius, 2-8° Celsius and 15-25° Celsius, these solutions will benefit industries that require refrigeration for their shipments, particularly the healthcare industry.
Transportation is critical to support growth of the healthcare industry. China Customs statistics show that the export of pharmaceutical products continues to rise, with a year-on-year growth of 3.1 per centre during the first six months of this year. By some estimates, 25 per cent of all healthcare products are temperature-sensitive and more than half of the top 50 best-selling drugs will require cold-chain transportation by 2016.
“FedEx has made a conscious effort to innovate and develop logistics solutions that address the specific needs of different industries, including cold chain solutions for our healthcare customers,” said Karen Reddington, president, FedEx Express Asia Pacific.
“The roll-out of our one-stop cold chain solutions in China marks a significant milestone in our drive to make these available wherever our customers need them. As well as the quick, convenient and reliable service they expect from FedEx, they now have the peace of mind of knowing they can entrust their temperature-sensitive shipments to us as well.”
FedEx ‘one-stop’ cold chain solutions are available across mainland China, with door-to-door express and monitoring services offered across the FedEx global and domestic networks.
To meet the exacting shipping requirements of FedEx customers, these solutions can be used in combination with FedEx Priority Alert and the Temperature Data Logger device for proactive monitoring and notification of the status of a shipment and the temperature data during transportation.
