MASkargo is back in business in Amsterdam

May 14, 2020 by PLA Editor

After a four-year hiatus, MAB Kargo Sdn. Bhd. (MASkargo) is back in business in Amsterdam. Flight MH6162, an A330 Freighter, landed at the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport at about 1000hrs local time after a scheduled refuelling stop in Dubai. MH 6162 was loaded with more than 50tonnes of general cargo and medical equipment.

“The last time Amsterdam Schiphol Airport have seen the “Wau” tailfin was in January 2016 after a 35-year history of operations by Malaysia Airlines. Today MASkargo has brought the “Wau” back to Schiphol and it was greeted with so much warmth. It is definitely good to be return to Schiphol!”, said Ibrahim Mohamed Salleh, MASkargo Chief Executive Officer.

“We have planned for weekly flights in May. Apart from providing long-haul connectivity supporting our network and P2C flights, it also allows our customers better access to the European market. The decision to operate this route ourselves involved a lot of work but the MASkargo and Malaysia Airlines teams has made it happen in a very short time. We also have a great team in Amsterdam led by our Europe Regional Sales Manager, C. J. “Keesjan” de Vries, who coordinated matters there in making it possible”, he continued.

“With the market being uncertain, innovation and being unconventional is the key to adapt to the drastic changes in the business environment. The P2C flights, including utilising the A380, is a demonstration of what we are and capable of doing. We will continue with implementing innovative ideas to ensure our customers’ needs are fulfilled”, added Mark Jason Thomas, MASkargo Chief Commercial Officer.

“We will keep our aircraft flying ensuring the world, especially, Malaysia, is taken care of. We will all come out of this dark period better and stronger. In the meantime, please stay safe and stay healthy”, Ibrahim ended.

For the month of May, MH6126 departs Kuala Lumpur for Amsterdam on Monday at 2300hrs local time and the return flight MH6127 departs Amsterdam on Tuesday at 2300hrs local time.
