Lufthansa Cargo is expanding its long-haul route network in its winter flight schedule with additional flights to destinations seeing high freight demand, including the addition of a new route to Vietnam.

Starting the end of August, Lufthansa Cargo is marketing additional capacity with the deployment of another Boeing 777F freighter. The German airline said it plans to operate 78 rotations with the B777F each week in its winter schedule,  with 38 weekly connections on routes to Asia alone. The current winter flight schedule comes into effect on October 30, 2022.

Added to the scheduled is a new route to Vietnam via Hanoi (HAN) which will be served twice a week from Frankfurt via Mumbai (BOM) starting November. It already operates two weekly services from Frankfurt to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) via Bangkok (BKK).

In addition, service from Frankfurt via Kansai (KIX) to Seoul (ICN) will increase from three to four weekly flights, whilst the frequency to Hong Kong (HKG) will be increased from four to five weekly flights.

Lufthansa said additional frequencies will be offered between Europe and North America, targeting 34 weekly freighter rotations. Cargo services from Frankfurt to Mexico City (MEX) will be increased from five to six, whilst Chicago (ORD) will see flights increase from seven to eight per week.

Lufthansa Cargo is maintaining its proven four weekly routes to South America and two weekly connections within Europe with the B777F to Tel Aviv (TLV) and Cairo (CAI) in the winter flight schedule.

To support its regional network, the airline said it will deploy an Airbus A321F from October, with plans underway to react to the demand for its short- and medium-haul flight schedule.
