AMERICAS: TSA counts its milestones on way to 100% screening
Four full months before its first Congressional deadline, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has said it is currently screening all cargo on narrow body, passenger carrying aircraft. Narrow bodies, like the Boeing 737s, Airbus A320s and thousands of regional jets make up more than 90 per cent of all passenger carrying aircraft in the US. AMERICAS: Polar Air starts weekend flights to Oz
With its line-haul agreement with DHL now operational, Polar Air Cargo has looked to the US-Australia market to supplement its income. The US all-cargo carrier has launched Saturday flights from Wilmington to Sydney with B747-400F aircraft. EUROPE & CIS: Airbus orderbook gets boost from Etihad
Airbus has reported orders for 84 aircraft in November including completion of the largest civil aircraft deal of the year, a 51-plane order from Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways worth over US$10 billion. The tally brought gross 2008 aircraft orders at the EADS subsidiary to 878, Airbus said in a statement. Three orders were cancelled in November, bringing total cancellations for the year to 122 and leaving the net total of aircraft sold at 756, down sharply from last year.
