Newspaper reports in Britain are suggesting that US global express giant UPS is preparing to make a bid for European rival TNT. Unsourced reports have suggested that Atlantabased UPS will offer €10-15 billion for the Dutch company. One bit of good news for the air express industry came recently from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) which reported that global sales of semiconductors for the first half of 2008 grew to US$127.5 billion, an increase of 5.4 per cent over the first half of 2007.
