Russia’s Motor Sich OJSC and Ukraine’s Antonov Design Bureau announced recently that they would jointly resume production of the Antonov 124 “Ruslan” cargo plane. AirBridgeCargo has announced it is set to launch Boeing 747 freighter services between Amsterdam-Tel Aviv- Moscow, from October 7. Israel is a strong cargo market for shipments including computer software, industrial equipment, chemicals, agricultural products and perishables, AirBridge said. Air cargo traffi c in the Philippines posted a modest growth of 4.5 per cent to 60,880 tonnes in the fi rst half of 2007 from 58,000 tonnes in the same period last year. The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) said Philippine Airlines (PAL) carried 26,630 tonnes during the period down from 28,420 tonnes in the same period last year. The UAE’s fi fth airline will launch commercial service out of the emirate of Fujairah this month.
