China's exports declined 25.7 percent year-on-year in February, the fourth straight monthly decline, according to China's General Administration of Customs. Britain's largest airports group suffered a saw cargo traffic plunge more than 20 per cent in February. BAA, which operates seven UK airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Edinburgh and Glasgow, said that its total UK cargo volumes had fallen by 21.4 per cent during February compared with the same month a year ago to 119,984 tonnes. Cargo crime to jump as crisis deepens
The global economic downturn will lead to an increase in incidents of cargo crime in 2009, warns the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA). Germany drops ATC privatisation bid
Germany is set to drop plans to privatise state-owned air traffic control firm Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS), Reuters reported. Quoting the weekly German news magazine Der Spiegel, the report said the German cabinet would formally abandon the bid, which had already been blocked by President Horst Koehler in 2006.
