Like neighbouring Dubai, Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) has reported ongoing growth in cargo and passenger movements with a 6.2 per cent increase in cargo volumes in August, year-onyear and a 12.4 percent rise in aircraft movements. Dubai International airport has continued to hang on to both cargo and passenger growth despite the continuing global downturn in air cargo and passenger movements with the airport holding on to its position among the world’s top five hubs for international cargo volumes. Vnukovo International Airport has begun providing cargo handling for carriers with services to the airport following the opening of a new mail and cargo terminal. The inaugural shipment arrived on 18 September 2009 delivered by a scheduled flight from Yakutsk on a Boeing 757-200 by Yakutia Airlines.
