FedEx forecasts record holiday volume
FedEx is expecting to move more than 290 million shipments between Black Friday and Christmas Eve, an 8.8 per cent increase in overall year-over-year peak seasonal volume. The season is expected to be bolstered by three volume spikes throughout December, occurring the first three Mondays of the month and each expected to surpass 20 million in volume. DHL launches North Asian multimodal service
DHL Global Forwarding has launched its multimodal service linking Japan to its existing rail solution from China to Europe. Using a combination of trucking, sea and rail solutions, the seamless, scheduled service offers customers in Japan access to DGF China's rail freight solution which reduces the delivery time by up to half to between 10 and 21 days compared to solely using ocean freight and reduces costs by up to 85 per cent compared to airfreight. Panalpina delivers stable profits during turnaround
Panalpina kept up overall profitability in the first nine months of 2014. Undeterred by ongoing restructuring, group gross profit and EBIT both increased 1 per cent (currency adjusted +6 per cent and +4 per cent), reaching CHF 1,178.7 million and CHF 94.4 million respectively. Hactl up 10.1% in third quarter
Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) has achieved 10.1 per cent growth in tonnage through its SuperTerminal 1 base in the first nine months of 2014, compared to the same period of 2013. Total cargo handled in the period was 1,323,250 tonnes. Imports in January-September increased 11.2 per cent YoY, to a total of 367,137 tonnes.
