AirAsia X secures permission for US service
The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded Malaysia’s long-haul, low cost carrier AirAsia X a Foreign Air Carrier Permit as well as Route Exemption ahead of its planned launch of flights to the US from 1 November. AirAsia X is planning a four times weekly service between Kuala Lumpur and Honolulu via Osaka Kansai International Airport using A330-300 aircraft. EVA Air signs LOI for five B777 Freighters
Taiwan’s EVA Air has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Boeing for the purchase of five B777Fs at the Paris Air Show recently. The commitment, valued at more than US$1.5 billion at list prices, represents the first B777 Freighters to join the Taiwanese operator’s cargo fleet which currently consists of eight ageing B747-400Fs. China merger: More questions than answers
Certainly some of the more exciting air cargo news out of China for some time –according to reports first carried by China’s state media the People’s Daily and Xinhua news agency, China’s three largest cargo carriers will merge to form Asia’s largest cargo carrier. China Airlines’ newest B777-300ER landed at Le Bourget, France last month marking the debut of China Airlines’ new twin-aisle aircraft at the Paris Air Show.
