China Airlines’ B777-300ER debuts
China Airlines’ newest B777-300ER landed at Le Bourget, France last month marking the debut of China Airlines’ new twin-aisle aircraft at the Paris Air Show. China Airlines currently operates five newly configured B777- 300ERs on routes serving Hong Kong, Bangkok, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Jetstar Hong Kong's application rejected
Qantas Airways’ hopes of launching a new low-cost carrier in Hong Kong have been essentially quashed after waiting nearly two years for a decision, as the territory’s Air Transport Licensing Authority (ATLA) rejected on 25 June the application from Qantas to start a new budget airline – Jetstar Hong Kong – on the basis that the ultimate control of the airline would be in Australia and mainland China. Myanmar Nat’l readies for int’l debut
Myanmar National Airlines celebrated the delivery of its first next-generation B737-800 leased from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), the commercial aircraft leasing arm of GE. The celebration also marked the first all-new Boeing aircraft to be delivered to any Myanmarbased airline. Thai Lion Air to begin int'l flights this August
Thai Lion Air, the no-frills offshoot of Indonesia’s Lion airline group is planning to commence international operations this August with flights from its Bangkok (Don Mueang airport) hub to Singapore. The carrier is said to be planning flights to two Chinese cities, including Taiyuan and another unspecified destination out of Chiang Rai, both later this year. THAI’s first A350 XWB well underway
Manufacturing of the first A350 XWB for Thai Airways International (THAI) is advancing well according to Airbus, with major components progressing towards the start of final assembly in October 2015. First delivery of Airbus’ latest generation widebody airliner to THAI is scheduled in mid-2016. THAI will acquire a total of 12 A350 XWB aircraft, with four on direct order and eight on lease.
