EMA’s 2006 freight up by 4.7%

East Midlands Airport (EMA) hasreported that its total freight includingtransit cargo was 300,291 tonnes in2006, up 4.7 percent year-on-year - thefirst time ever that EMA's throughputhas exceeded 300,000 tonnes in a year.Bill Blanchard, cargo developmentmanager of East Midlands Airport,Nottingham, said it was also anotherexceptional year for cargo charters withnearly 500 ad-hoc movements including164 by AN-124 and the second visitto EMA of the AN-225. MAHB airport charges lack transparency – IATA

The International Air TransportAssociation (IATA) has urged the MalaysiaAirports Holdings Bhd (MAHB)and Malaysia's Ministry of Transport toengage airlines in effective consultationswhen deciding on airport charges, Bernama News Agency reported. Hactl sets new tonnage record in 2006

Hong Kong Air Cargo TerminalsLimited (Hactl) said it handled 2.56million tonnes in 2006, up 5.3 percentyear-on-year, and set a new annual tonnagerecord for the company, havingtopped the 2.5 million tonnes mark. Hactl said it handled a total of231,757 tonnes in December, up 4.2percent year-on-year. Tonnage handledin the fourth quarter was 717,361tonnes, representing a year-on-yearincrease of 6 percent.
