Christoph Mueller, the CEO of Irish airline Aer Lingus, is named the new CEO of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) by Malaysian sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional. The German aviation veteran will be appointed as CEO-designate from 1 January 2015 and nominated as non-executive director of the Board of MAS. Delta TechOps—Delta Air Lines’ maintenance division and MRO provider business—opened a line maintenance hangar at its Tokyo-Narita International Airport hub on Monday with Narita airport and Japanese government officials on-hand to mark the occasion. October cargo on the up, says IATA
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released October data for global air freight markets showing that the strong performance of air cargo in recent months is continuing. Demand, measured in freight tonne kilometers (FTK), rose 5.4 per cent in October compared to October 2013. This out-stripped capacity which grew by 4.4 per cent.
