Malaysia’s Rayani Air has had its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) suspended for a period of three months, effective 11 April 2016 as a result of the carrier’s failure to meet safety and service standards, according to a Bernama news agency report. According to the latest update from the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) freight traffic - expressed in freight-tonne-kilometres (FTKs) - grew by +2.7 per cent year-on-year (YoY) in January 2016, +1.9 percentage points higher than the growth in December 2015. FedEx Corporation has gained approval from Brazil's anti-trust authorities as the Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Econômica (CADE) has rejected a third-party appeal filed by United Parcel Service over the takeover. UPS appealed after Brazil unconditionally approved the $4.8 billion deal in February. American Airlines has submitted a proposal to the US Department of Transportation to begin daily nonstop service from Los Angeles to the Chinese capital of Beijing, two weeks after Delta Air Lines announced a similar bid.
