Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) handled 2.1 million tonnes of cargo for the first half of 2015, up 0.6 per cent from the same period last year. Heathrow Airport saw a 2.1 per cent year-on-year rise in cargo volumes to 741,847 tonnes in the first half of the year, driven by increases in cargo from emerging markets. Since July 2014, Heathrow has processed 1.5 million tonnes, a year-on-year uplift of 4.3 per cent. Cathay Pacific’s procedures at Hong Kong International Airport have come under scrutiny after after one of 13 bags containing NZ$1 million (US$660,235) went missing during transfer from an aircraft to the cargo terminal.
