Qatar Air finalises order for four 777 freighters

Boeing and Qatar Airways have finalised an order for four 777 freighters, valued at US$1.24 billion at current list prices. The airline also has purchase rights for four additional airplanes, which when exercised will bring the combined value to US$2.46 billion. Boeing should replace 777 not 737: Analyst

Boeing’s top priority should be replacing its 777 widebody jet, not the 737 narrowbody, according to J.P. Morgan analyst Joseph Nadol who warned that Airbus’s new A350XWB widebody family, which is scheduled to enter service in 2015, already is eating into 777 sales. Boeing wins US$1.3 billion order from Ethiopian

Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines have announced an order for five Boeing 777-200LRs, worth an estimated US$1.3 billion at list prices making it the largest order of the year for Boeing. With the order, Ethiopian Airlines becomes the first African carrier to order and operate the ultra-long-range 777-200LR model. Ethiopian was the first African carrier to order the 787 Dreamliner, ordering 10 in 2005. Boeing cuts 777 production by 28%

Hit by the global economic slowdown that has savaged the global airline industry, Boeing has announced production cuts in its widebody programmes from the middle of next year. The US airframer announced that its 777 production rate will decrease from seven to five aircraft per month beginning in June 2010, representing a 28 per cent cut. Boeing/Air France celebrate 777th B777

Boeing and longtime partner Air France celebrated milestones recently with the delivery of the 777th Boeing 777 airplane.
