Ethiopian Airlines, the largest airline in Africa, has placed an order for 10 additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft, enabling further development of its fast expanding long-haul route network. Last June, Ethiopian Airlines became the first African carrier to operate the A350 when it took delivery of the first of 12 aircraft in order. Malaysia Airlines considering new widebody order
Malaysia Airlines is considering placing a new order for up to twenty-five widebody aircraft airline chief executive officer (CEO) Peter Bellew has said in an interview. According to Manila's The Star newspaper, Bellew said the A330 and A350 Families were currently under consideration along with the B787. A decision is due by the middle to end of next year, he said. Qatar Airways has added a second daily, non-stop flight along its popular John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) - Hamad International Airport (DOH) route. The new route features the new A350 and the flight represents the tenth Qatar Airways route between Doha and the United States. Airbus has exceeded its targets for 2015, achieving a new record of 635 aircraft deliveries for 85 customers of which 10 are new. These deliveries comprise: 491 A320 Family aircraft; 103 A330s; 27 A380s; and 14 A350 XWBs. This production achievement means that Airbus’ aircraft deliveries in 2015 were up for the 13th year in a row, surpassing the previous year-end delivery record of 629 aircraft – set in 2014. Philippine Airlines (PAL) has confirmed it is in talks with Airbus and Boeing to buy as many as 12 wide-body aircraft and will decide on the purchase before the end of the year, the flag carrier's president Jaime Bautista told Reuters, recently.
