Maersk misjudged container-shipping demand
The chief executive of Danish shipping group Maersk Line said recently that the company misjudged the strength in demand for container shipping, which has proved far more sluggish than it expected when it ordered billions of dollars' worth of new vessels two years ago. Modest growth, but most carriers operating at a loss
The Transpacific Stabilisation Agreement, which is made up of 15 major carriers, has recommended a general rate increase of US$400 per feu to come into force on November 15.
