Qatar Airways has announced three new routes as it expands its network on the back of new aircraft orders. Beginning 15 June Qatar will launch daily services between Doha and the south-west Indian coastal city of Kozhikode (the third largest city in Kerala state). MIDDLE EAST: Libya and UAE sign air services pact
Libya and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed a cooperation agreement on air transportation and a memorandum of understanding allowing the UAE to have air links to some Libyan airports. Under the agreement, the UAE will accredit Libyan airlines (Libyan Arab Airlines and Afriqiyah Airways) while Libya will do the same for Emirati airlines (Etihad Airways, Emirat Airways, Ras Khaima Airways and Arabian Airways)as the UAE national carriers. Etihad Airways has signed a contract with CIT Aerospace for the lease of two new Airbus A320-200 aircraft which are scheduled for delivery by the end of 2008. MIDDLE EAST: US$2.2 billion worth of aircraft for Iraq
Boeing and the Government of Iraq have announced an order for 30 Boeing B737-800 aircraft for the renamed Air Iraq, worth US$2.2 billion at current list prices, a move described by Boeing as the first step in re-establishing Iraq¡¯s scheduled commercial aviation operations. BANGLADESH: Biman Bangladesh signs deal for 777s, 787s
Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Boeing have announced the airline's order for four 777-300ER (Extended Range) and four 787-8 Dreamliner airplanes at a signing ceremony in Dhaka.
