The Indian government’s plan to reduce free time given to cargo imports at airports has upset trade bodies. Under this policy, cargo clearance time will be reduced from October 1 fromfi ve days to two days. Cargo throughput at Hong Kong International Airport grew 10.5 per cent in August. Cargo volume reached 324,000 tonnes in August, up 10.5 percent on the same month last year. It also represented the largest monthly increase this year. Passenger throughput grew to 4.42 million, up 8.2 per cent, due to robust departures and visitor numbers.
