Etihad doubles freight volume to Melbourne

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has announced plans for a second daily non-stop service between Abu Dhabi and Melbourne from 1 August 2015.  The additional flight will be operated by a B777-300ER aircraft. Darwin claims anti-competitive actions by SWISS

Swiss regional carrier Darwin Airline has formally complained to the country’s Competition Commission (COMCO), alleging abusive and anti-competitive behaviour by Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS).   Early this year, Darwin announced it had reached an agreement with Etihad Airways for the rapidly expanding Abu Dhabi-based carrier to take a 33.3 per cent stake in Darwin, subject to regulatory approval. Bertling Logistics has transported three power substations from Portugal to Argentina using Antonov Airlines freighters. The logistics operation required three An-124-100 flights to airlift nine outsize transformers from Porto, Portugal, to the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires. The sub-stations had to travel from the manufacturer’s facility (Efacec) to the end user in Argentina (Edesur).
