EUROPE & CIS: Cargo crime to jump as crisis deepens
The global economic downturn will lead to an increase in incidents of cargo crime in 2009, warns the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA). Fueled by existing orders for new aircraft, Dubai’s Emirates SkyCargo will grow the number of flights across its network by 14 per cent this year andincrease cargo capacity by 17 per cent. Etihad Airways has announced a new codeshare agreement with Qantas, which will see the Abu Dhabi-based carrier place its ‘EY’ code on selected Qantas domestic services which operate beyond Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane – the three gateway airports currently served by Etihad.
