Fueled by existing orders for new aircraft, Dubai’s Emirates SkyCargo will grow the number of flights across its network by 14 per cent this year andincrease cargo capacity by 17 per cent. Etihad Airways has announced a new codeshare agreement with Qantas, which will see the Abu Dhabi-based carrier place its ‘EY’ code on selected Qantas domestic services which operate beyond Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane – the three gateway airports currently served by Etihad. Oman Air said it aims to improve cargo performance to increase its contribution to the carrier’s total revenue. As part its ongoing expansion plan, Oman Air will boost its cargo business to account for at least 12 per cent of total airline revenues over the next five years, CEO Peter Hill said.
