IAI, Mitsui to form JV for freighter conversions

Israel Aerospace Industries' (IAI) Bedek Aviation Group and Mitsui & Co have signed a contract to establish a 50:50 joint venture company that will convert B767-300 aircraft from passenger to special freighter configuration. IAI and Mitsui intend to establish the JV - M&B Conversions Ltd - in Ireland within the next couple of months. Unisys gets major carrier for CPS

Unisys said that Continental Airlines Cargo is now live on the Unisys-operated Cargo Portal Services (CPS), an electronic booking and shipment management service for the air cargo industry. Cargo volumes to triple at world’s airports

A new Airports Council International (ACI) forecast, which highlights future traffic development from the perspective of the airport industry, predicts a tripling of current cargo volumes within the next 20 years. Rickenbacker post gains in 2006

Strong December activity at Rickenbacker Airport closed 2006 with an annual increase. Rickenbacker reported a 19.7 percent increase in December cargo to close the year at over 250 million pounds (113.400 tonnes), a 0.7 percent increase over the 2005 figure. Rickenbacker also handled a 32.3 percent increase in commercial cargo aircraft landings during 2006. Los Angeles reports airfreight decline

Los Angeles World Airports reported a 1.6 percent drop in cargo and mail handled during 2006 to 2,103,082 tonnes compared to the previous year.
