Boeing projects a demand for 7,240 new airplanes in China over the next 20 years with a total value of nearly $1.1 trillion dollars, according to its annual China Current Market Outlook (CMO). Airplane demand had also rose 6.3% over last year’s forecast. Malaysia Airlines announced today an order for 25 B737 MAX 8 aircraft, valued at US$2.75 billion at current list prices. The order also includes purchase rights for additional B737 MAX 8 and B737 MAX 9s. Malaysia Airlines currently operates 56 737-800s. Garuda orders 50 B737 MAX 8s
Garuda Indonesia has ordered 50 B737 MAX 8s, valued at US$4.9 billion. Boeing said that the carrier will purchase 46 737 MAX 8s and convert existing orders for four 737-800s to 737 MAX 8s. This revitalisation programme is due to the end of the lease term for the airline’s existing 12-year-average B737-800NG aircraft. Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines announced an order for 20 B737 MAX 8s. The order, previously unidentified on the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website, is worth more than US$2.1 billion at list prices and also includes options and purchase rights for a further 15 B737 MAX 8s.
