Air Canada Rouge, the recently-launched “leisure airline”, will arrive in Asia for the first time next year. Jetstar deploys new B787s on Japan routes
Jetstar last week began using its most recent B787 delivery to replace an A330 on service from Cairns to Osaka, Japan. The low-cost carrier (LCC) also introduced a B787 on its Cairns-Tokyo route in August, and on its Gold Coast-Tokyo flight in July. Scoot the wholly-owned low-cost, long-haul subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, has selected UTC Aerospace Systems to provide asset management and repair services for components on its B787 aircraft through a Comprehensive Accessory Repair and Exchange (C.A.R.E.) programme agreement. Production of Boeing 787 Dreamliners resumed at the end of January with the join of the fifth airplane designated for flight test. Designated ZA005, this fifth airframe is the first to be powered with General Electric GEnx engines with the previous four using Rolls-Royce engines. Dubai lessor cuts 787 order
Dubai-based lessor, LCAL, established in 2004 to buy and lease 787s, cut its Dreamliner order from 21 aircraft to five. The 16 cancellations are another blow to the ongoing troubles surrounding the Dreamliner and are valued at US$2.8 billion.
