More capacity for shipments by air between China and Central and Eastern Europe is expected as Budapest Airport (BUD) welcomed two new freighters at the air hub in December. Cainiao Network has launched direct cargo flights last week between Zhengzhou and Budapest, Hungary to meet the growing consumer demand in Eastern Europe. The service, which started on 14 May, will operate five times each week with 17 tonnes of capacity each day. Budapest Airport processed a record 127,145 tonnes of cargo in 2017, up 13.4 per cent on the previous year, and 39.1 per cent on 2015.
