UPS has announced plans to increase its service parts logistics network in China with 101 new field stocking locations (FSLs) which will complement its existing 950 FSLs in 120 countries. China posts 8.9 per cent Q3 GDP growth

China posted GDP growth of 8.9 per cent in the third quarter of the year, up from 7.9 per cent growth in the second quarter, Bloomberg reported. The growth rate, the fastest in a year, reflected heavy government stimulus spending and high lending growth. The Chinese Vice Premier has reaffirmed his country's commitment to going beyond the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA) which is set to come into effect on January 1, 2010 in developing comprehensive economic cooperation in the Asian region. The China Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), seen as a bellwether of manufacturing activity in the country, rose to 53.5 in April from 52.4 in March, according to Reuters. This is the second straight month the index has finished in excess of 50, which indicates an expansion of activity in the manufacturing sector. A reading of below 50 suggests a contraction.
