May cargo volume dip raises question on market recovery

June 4, 2021 by PLA Editor

March: What’s dampening air cargo’s recovery?

April 5, 2021 by PLA Editor

After some form of recovery to pre-pandemic levels in the first two months of the year, global volumes for the four full weeks of March 2021 were unable to continue the recovery seen in January and February, according to latest data from CLIVE Data Services and TAC Index. Volumes dropped 3 percent during these weeks and worsened towards the end of the month, sliding 4 percent week on week relative to the start of the month. Nonetheless, CLIVE Data says the air cargo market is in far better … [Read more...] about March: What’s dampening air cargo’s recovery?

Air cargo volume back to pre-Covid levels after 10 months

March 5, 2021 by PLA Editor

Air cargo volumes have recovered to pre-Covid volume levels in February, perhaps an unprecedented feat in just 10 months, according to latest data from industry analysts CLIVE Data Services and TAC Index. For the four weeks of February, chargeable weight was down 1 percent compared to February 2019 and up 2 percent compared to the same month last year. This was a far cry from the April 2020 volume which was down 39 percent. “Who would have thought that possible inside 10 months? It’s a … [Read more...] about Air cargo volume back to pre-Covid levels after 10 months

Global air cargo volume sits on a ‘relative high’ at year-end

January 7, 2021 by PLA Editor

Despite a not so traditional peak season for air cargo in the last quarter of 2020, the year ended on a ‘relative high’ in December with the first positive year-on-year growth in weekly volume in over 12 months, according to the latest statistics from CLIVE Data Services and TAC Index. “For an industry looking for every glimmer of positivity, December’s data provided some modest growth indicators,” said Niall van de Wouw, managing director of CLIVE Data Services. “December’s performance … [Read more...] about Global air cargo volume sits on a ‘relative high’ at year-end

Air cargo demand stalls in November

December 3, 2020 by PLA Editor

Air cargo recovery November

The peak was not the peak season that was hoped for in November as air cargo demand fell 1 percentage point year-over-year. Air cargo saw the first decline since the road to recovery started six months ago, according to the latest industry statistics from analysts CLIVE Data Services and TAC Index. From a low of -37 percent in April, the gap in year-on-year air cargo volumes has been steadily closing in the subsequent months to the end of October, when margin versus 2019 volumes had reduced … [Read more...] about Air cargo demand stalls in November
