A new Chinese postal law may make life difficult for international express carriers operating in China to expandtheir business. The Chinese government has enacted a new postal law on 24 April that bars foreign companies from delivering domestic express letters. Robust intra-Asian volumes have led DHL to increase capacity between Hong Kong and Singapore, which it serves through Air Hong Kong, a joint venture between Cathay Pacific and DHL. DHL invests US$13 million in Hong Kong
DHL has announced an investment of over HK$100 million (US$13 million) in Hong Kong involving a new 120,000 sq ft DHL Global Forwarding (DGF) office in Kowloon Commerce Centre (KCC) and a DHL Fashion Competency Centre, also based in KCC. Arriving from a non-stop flight from Boeing’s plant in Seattle, USA, the first of eight brand-new AeroLogic Boeing 777 freighters landed at Leipzig/Halle Airport, the home of the new freight airline AeroLogic, a joint venture between DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo.
