Qatar Airways Cargo is continuing its expansion programme in India with the launch of the seventh freighter destination in the country. Starting 3rd February, 2015, Qatar Airways Cargo will commence freighter services to Ahmedabad, the largest city in the state of Gujarat. Air Transport Services Group has completed a new agreement that extends its support of DHL’s air cargo network in the US through at least March 2019. Silk Way nears deal on three B747-8 freighters
Boeing is nearing an agreement to sell three 747-8 freighters to Azerbaijan’s Silk Way West Airlines, a deal that would end a drought in purchases of the humpbacked jumbo jet. Qatar Air finalises order for four 777 freighters
Boeing and Qatar Airways have finalised an order for four 777 freighters, valued at US$1.24 billion at current list prices. The airline also has purchase rights for four additional airplanes, which when exercised will bring the combined value to US$2.46 billion. Bertling Logistics has transported three power substations from Portugal to Argentina using Antonov Airlines freighters. The logistics operation required three An-124-100 flights to airlift nine outsize transformers from Porto, Portugal, to the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires. The sub-stations had to travel from the manufacturer’s facility (Efacec) to the end user in Argentina (Edesur). Airbus forecasts that China will need over 5,300 new passenger aircraft and freighters from 2014 to 2033, with a total market value of US$ 820 billion.
