Airbus has named Chris Drewer as senior vice president for Airbus commercial aircraft in Southeast Asia. Drewer joined Airbus in November 2020 from GE Aviation. GA Telesis Engine Services has received certification from the Indonesian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to overhaul CFM56-5B/7B and CF6-80C2B engines. SIA Engineering Company Limited (“SIAEC”) and GE Aviation (“GE”) have agreed to establish a new engine overhaul joint venture based in Singapore. The joint venture will provide a full range of engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for the GE90 and GE9X engines. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and GE Aviation have signed a cooperative research and development agreement to study how manned and unmanned aircraft can share commercial airspace. GE Aviation and the FAA will look at air traffic control systems that would allow commercial airliners operating under instrument rules to fly directly to their destinations.
