June 29, 2015 by PLA Editor

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) announces that it will continue to operate as normal to European destinations. In a statement, THAI president Charamporn Jotikasthira said that the European Union did not list Thai Airways International in the “List of airlines banned within the EU”, despite the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) posting a red flag on Thailand’s Department of Civil Aviation (Thai DCA). In February 2015, the ICAO had … [Read more...] about THAI continues to operate to EU destinations

MAS signs for SITA flight tracking

April 27, 2015 by PLA Editor

Malaysia Airlines will be the first carrier to implement global flight tracking using SITA OnAir’s AIRCOM FlightTracker, starting this summer. The airline has already conducted extensive testing of the technology, which uses existing equipment and re-purposes air traffic control data. This ground-based software upgrade allows airlines to follow aircraft positions and identify any unexpected deviations or gaps in position reports. Because it utilises existing equipment, the solution is … [Read more...] about MAS signs for SITA flight tracking

IATA launches standard safety assessment

April 15, 2015 by PLA Editor

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) launched the IATA Standard Safety Assessment (ISSA) for airlines not eligible for the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). Thai carriers in trouble after ICAO safety audit

April 2, 2015 by PLA Editor

A January audit by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has raised serious safety concerns over Thailand’s commercial aviation standards. Already China, South Korea and Japan have stopped Thai carriers from flying charters and new routes because of safety concerns highlighted by the international safety audit. The problem also threatens to become graver for Thailand should other jurisdictions including the US and the European Union take … [Read more...] about Thai carriers in trouble after ICAO safety audit
