Japan Airlines parent JAL Group reported a net loss of Â¥38.5 billion (US$428 million) for its fiscal third quarter ended 31 December, reversing a Â¥13.1 billion net profit in the same period a year earlier, citing declining demand, rising yen and volitile fuel prices. Plummeting volumes for JAL and ANA
Japan Airlines, Asia¡¯s biggest air carrier, said international cargo volume declined for five months in a row to November, when volume plummeted 25.1 per cent to 47,000 tonnes. During the first eight months of the fiscal year 2008, which started in April, international volume totaled 434,943 tonnes, down 7.8 per cent from the same period a year earlier.
