Malaysia Airlines Cargo (MASkargo) plans to invest 100 million ringgit (US$30 million) to upgrade the material handling system of its cargo handling complex at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) over the next four years, according to MASkargo. Malaysia Airlines Cargo (MASkargo) is pinning its hopes on further discounts to woo freight forwarders to increase their transhipment volumes through MASkargo's Advanced Cargo Centre at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Malaysia has reversed its decision on building a new low-cost air terminal, after last month rejecting budget carrier, AirAsia's plan to build and operate a 1.6 billion ringgit (US$432 million) budget terminal amid concerns it may undermine the main Kuala Lumpur International (KLIA) airport. Malaysian budget carrier AirAsia has unveiled plans to shift to its own US$460 million airport outside Kuala Lumpur, abandoning the current budget terminal next to Kuala Lumpur's main international hub.
