Plummeting volumes of imports from Asia sent cargo traffic at San Francisco International Airport plunging 36 per cent in December, giving the major trans-Pacific gateway a 14.4 per cent decline in overall freight business in 2008. With the inaugural Emirates non-stop flight between Dubai and Los Angeles now underway, Emirates SkyCargo is anticipating a robust cargo route. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the 12th busiest cargo airport in the world, handling 1.9 million tonnes of cargo last year. Vietnam : Vietnam, US open cargo skies a bright spot

Vietnam and the US have agreed to the terms of an Open Skies agreement that will effectively eliminate restrictions on air cargo routes linking the two countries.
