Boeing announced production stoppage of the 747 jumbo jet following news that numerous airlines would be retiring their 747 fleets due to the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, data and analytics firm GlobalData stated in a press release. British Airways, Qantas, KLM and Virgin Atlantic have either retired their fleets, or plan to do so ahead of pre-COVID-19 schedules. Hactl is Air Belgium’s choice for cargo handle
With the launch of their new airline, Air Belgium; long haul flights between Brussels, and Hong Kong are set to have Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) for their cargo handle. Air Belgium commenced twice-weekly services on June 4, using A340-300 passenger aircraft with approximately 14 tonnes’ cargo capacity per flight. AFRICA: Afriqiyah Air gets first of three A330s
Libyan-based Afriqiyah Airways has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330- 200 aircraft for long-haul operations on routes from Tripoli to Africa and Europe. The new A330-200, the first of three ordered in 2006, will join Afriqiyah’s existing all Airbus fleet of two A319s and five A320s.
