Hactl makes strong Q4 impression
Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) ended 2014 with its strongest quarter of the year, handling 491,476 tonnes (up 4.9 per cent on the same period of 2013). The last quarter was also the best of the year for exports, which totalled 287,456 tonnes (up 4.2 per cent on 2013), for imports, which totalled 131,202 tonnes (up 7.7 per cent) and for mail and express, which totalled 41,558 tonnes (down 2.2 per cent). TNT reports 60% fall in 4Q profits
Dutch mail and express company TNT reported a 60 per cent fall in profit for the fourth quarter this week citing restructuring charges and worsening business conditions, especially in its express delivery arm. Net profit at Amsterdam-based TNT was €207 million, down from €250 million in the same period a year earlier. Sales fell 2.4 per cent to €2.93 billion. Cathay and Dragonair continue to suffer
January continued the downward plunge for Cathay Pacific Airways and Dragonair whose combined traffic figures for the month indicated another hefty fall in cargo and mail tonnage. The two airlines carried a total of 101,154 tonnes of cargo and mail last month, down 26 per cent on January 2008, while capacity, measured in available cargo/mail tonne kilometres, fell by 15.9 per cent.
