Singapore Airlines’s low-cost carrier Scoot has named Leslie Thng as its incoming CEO effective 16 June 2022. Thng, who has been with the SIA Group for 23 years, was the CEO of Indian airline Vistara, a SIA-Tata Sons joint venture, between October 2017 and December 2021. Singapore Airlines orders blended SAF for pilot trials
Singapore is starting a pilot on the use of sustainable aviation fuel as the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), Singapore Airlines, and investment firm Temasek selected ExxonMobil as supplier. Under the pilot, SIA will purchase blended SAF from ExxonMobil, comprising 1.25 million litres of neat SAF or sustainable fuels that are unmixed or undiluted. Bloomberg Intelligence predicts belly capacity from passenger air fleets won’t return to pre-pandemic levels before 2022. Bloomberg says under normal circumstances, about 60 percent of global air cargo is flown in the belly hold of passenger flights. Scoot converts A320 passenger aircraft for cargo-only transport
Scoot modified one of its A320ceo passenger aircraft (9V-TAZ) to carry cargo only by removing all seats in the cabin, doubling its capacity to nearly 20 tonnes, a press release confirmed. The modified aircraft’s first cargo charter flight took off on 22 August from Fuzhou to Singapore.
