Canada to screen cargo in passenger bellies
In a move mirroring steps already well underway in the US, the Canadian government has announced a C$96 million (US$88.8 million) plan aimed at improving the security of Canadian air cargo, citing the potential for terrorist attacks within the commercial cargo system. Schipol launches ‘scan street’
A new air cargo security project – Cargo Checkpoint - has been launched at Amsterdam Schiphol airport in the Netherlands. It uses a variety of systems to check cargo containers as they are driven through a so-called "scan street'' on trailers at a speed of 10 km an hour.
